Coronation Street fans predict massive ‘hostage’ storyline after HUGE secret is revealed
CORONATION Street fans predict a massive ‘hostage’ storyline after a huge secret is revealed.
This week’s episodes saw Dee-Dee Bailey discover alarming information about her fiance Joel Deering.
Dee-Dee found out he still had his old flat and when she visited it, she realised another woman was living there.
While she still has no idea it’s Lauren Bolton – who he has been abusing and has fathered a premature baby with – she was still devastated by what she had learned and confronted him.
She also called out the fact he had never given his daughter the bracelet he had claimed was for her, but slippery Joel was able to think on his feet and lie again to his fiancee.
While Dee-Dee didn’t seem wholly convinced by his version of events and walked out of the flat they share, some Coronation Street fans think Joel will show his true colours any moment.
Considering how evil he has been to Lauren, one viewer wrote on X: “How long until we see Joel keeping DeeDee as hostage? Mark my words.”
Another added: “DeeDee knows somethings up when her smile faded at the end of todays episode, now it’s time for her to escape the naughty Joel’s clutches!”
A third tweeted: “Swain AND DeeDee now suspicious of Joel. Batten down the hatches.”
Meanwhile a fourth shared: “Joel gives me the ick, that mask is slipping come on DeeDee.”
Their fears come as Channique Sterling-Brown – who plays Dee-Dee – opened up about her own concerns for the storyline.
She said: “The one thing I said to the producers at the start of this storyline was, ‘She’s not stupid and I don’t want her to look stupid’, and there’s this whole chapter where she is in the dark.”
She continued: “It’s been really important to establish this relationship because Joel has gotten to know Dee-Dee so well, which has allowed him to manipulate her to the best of his ability.
“A lot of people find themselves in situations where they’ve been deceived and we’ve got to do them justice by not just having them seem like a rose-tinted glasses type of person.
“As abusers and narcissists like Joel do, they ensure they have completely sold a different version of who they really are and that was really important for me to portray.”
