Coronation Street fans spot Simon Barlow’s double in new show and we can’t accept it’s not him

Coronation Street fans were stunned tuning into E4 last night (March 25) as a new show featured someone who looked remarkably like Simon Barlow.

The Underdog: Josh Must Win follows a host of celebrities tasked with manipulating a popularity competition.

The group, which features Amber Gill, Pete Wicks, Nick Grimshaw and Vicky Pattison, must fix the game to ensure Josh becomes the unlikely champion amongst the influencers and beauty queens.

Josh, 23, lives with his parents and four chocolate Labradors in Bournemouth. The famous faces must orchestrate events from a house next door to ensure that Josh is successful.

While fans were enjoying the launch of the new series, some couldn’t help but notice Josh looks incredibly similar to Alex Bain, who plays Simon Barlow in Coronation Street.

Honestly, take the glasses off and we’ll be convinced it’s him!

‘Simon Barlow has found a new show to go on’, one user of X said, making the comparison.

‘Not Josh from #JoshMustWin literally being Simon Barlow from #Corrie’ another fan wrote.

It was confirmed a few months ago that Alex Bain would leave his Corrie role as Simon Barlow after 15 years.

Most recently, the troubled character crashed mum Leanne’s (Jane Danson) car while under the influence of alcohol.

It’s expected that Alex’s departure will play out over the Spring, as Simon and Leanne become entwined in ‘The Institute’, a dangerous cult that is masking itself as a self-help group at the Chariot Square Hotel.

He first attended the seminars a few weeks ago and was driven there by his mum in the wake of his drink driving ban.

The two were instantly charmed by the lecturer Rowan (Emrhys Cooper), who took great pride in the flattering comments they both gave him.
