Earlier this week, Kit Green’s (Jacob Roberts) secret was revealed in Coronation Street… apparently.
The copper was introduced earlier this year as the son Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) put up for adoption. Brother to Paul (Peter Ash) and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell), Kit has ultimately found it hard to connect with his siblings due to the anger he feels towards Bernie putting him in care.
Away from family ties, Kit has established himself as a bit of a gossip. Previously, he was seen in the pub with Craig (Colson Smith), plying him with enough booze until he eventually hinted at the fact he’s gone against the rules of the law in the past.
This week, Kit was once again in the pub with Craig, digging for information on Beth’s (Lisa George) criminal activity that’s seen her sell counterfeit t-shirts.
At the end of Monday’s episode, Kit was spotted in the ginnel talking to Sid, Beth’s sidekick. Kit told Sid that he needs to kick Beth off the team and welcome him on board instead, because he wants a portion of what they earn.
Kit then warned Sid and said if he didn’t do this, he’d happily report him to the police.
While these scenes seemingly confirmed Kit Green was a bent copper and nothing more, some fans of the ITV soap are convinced he is still hiding something else.
Specifically, is real identity.
‘Maybe that’s the real Kit?’, one audience member wondered on X after the twist between Sid and Kit was broadcasted.
‘Exactly something is suspicious I don’t believe the one we know is the real one!’, another said in agreement.
‘He is still very angry, he doesn’t want anything to do with her’, actor Jacob Roberts previously explained to us, describing the dynamic between Kit and Bernie.
‘As far as he is aware she abandoned him twice, once when he was born and then again when he was 20 and he arranged to meet her and she didn’t show up. He has a lot of unresolved issues.’
Battling with these emotions, it will certainly be difficult for Kit to ever forgive Bernie, Jacob explained.
‘He is getting some perverse pleasure from being round where she is and forging a relationship with his siblings. It will be interesting to see how long he can keep that up before he realises the only way to move forward really is to try and forgive his mum.’
