Coronation Street favourite interviews for new job after quitting
Beth Sutherland (Lisa George) goes on the hunt for work in Coronation Street next week, after her counterfeit goods scheme at Underworld backfired.
As Corrie fans know, Beth had been covertly manufacturing counterfeit goods at the factory after hours in a bid to raise cash to surprise partner Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment) with a wedding.
However, the scheme soon got out of hand when Underworld boss Carla Connor (Alison King) became suspicious and accused Beth, Betsy Swain (Sydney Matin) and Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) of using her machines to make counterfeit goods.
Beth walked out of her job before she was pushed, but she faced further complications when she delivered the counterfit goods to the shady Sid, as they pair were caught red handed by her policemen son Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) and fellow officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
While Kit agreed to turn a blind eye, Beth remained unaware that the corrupt copper cut a deal with him.
With work from Sid now off the table, Beth later asked Carla is she could return to the factory, but she refused, leaving Beth in search of other work.
Next week, Beth sets off for a job interview, as Kirk and friend Fiz Dobbs (Jenny McAlpine) wonder why she’s thrown in her gig at the factory.
With Craig having already turned his back on his mum for her part in the scheme, Beth is determined to keep it from Kirk – but just how much longer can she hide the truth?
Actress Lisa George is long-rumoured to be leaving Coronation Street, and there is a big question mark hanging over Beth and Kirk’s future.
Reports about her future with the show first emerged late last year, before Lisa later revealed she has landed a new role away from Weatherfield.
