Coronation Street favourite promises big stories ahead as she celebrates four years

DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) has only been a permanent fixture on the cobbles of Coronation Street for a year, but already she’s become a fan favourite.

Now, actress Vicky has shared an emotional post celebrating four years since her first episode aired, and she has promised that her stories won’t be slowing down any time soon.

Before Lisa became a full-time Coronation Street resident, she was known just as DS Swain – the no-nonsense detective tasked with bringing Seb Franklin’s murderer to justice.

Though Vicky’s initial contract only had her playing the role for four episodes, she appeared several more times over the following three years, before being promoted to a series regular last year.

During her time as one of Weatherfield’s top detectives, Lisa has arrested ten people, including Roy Cropper (David Neilson), Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) and Peter Barlow.

Since being made a regular character, Lisa’s family has been expanded, with the introduction of daughter Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) and the revelation that her wife Becky had been murdered on duty.

In recent months, her relationship with show legend Carla Connor (Alison King) has sent fans into a frenzy, with #Swarla gaining a cult following across the world.

Taking to Instagram, actress Vicky shared some behind-the-scenes shots from her first four episodes, as well as a screenshot of her very first scene.

‘Four years of DS Lisa Swain,’ she wrote in the caption, alongside an emoji of a police officer.

‘I can’t quite believe it’s been four years. What a journey, what a story, what a woman, and there’s plenty more to come!

‘Whether you love her or hate her, thank you,’ she continued, adding that she was ‘forever grateful’.

Her Corrie co-stars were quick to celebrate in the comments, with real-life bestie and Abi Webster actress Sally Carman writing: ‘You are the best!! Here’s to the next four you amazing woman!’

Sair Khan, who plays Alya Nazir, also wrote: ‘Woohoo.’

So far this year Lisa has already been taken hostage twice, shot her own daughter and discovered the truth about her wife’s murder, but it seems there is still plenty more to come for the character, as Vicky teased.

Will it be more angst, or are Carla and Lisa due some happiness? Only time will tell…
