Coronation Street favourite sacked over theft as she makes dramatic ‘exit’

Troubled character Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) has been sacked from the cafe in Coronation Street ahead of her worrying departure.

At the end of last week, Bobby (Jack Carroll) was left incredibly concerned when he spotted bruising on Lauren’s arm. She claimed that she fell down the stairs and injured herself, but Bobby didn’t believe her.

Heading back to Weatherfield from Lauren’s flat, Bobby bumped into Sabrina (Luana Santos) and Max (Paddy Bever), who were also worrying about her.

They all concluded Lauren was hiding something, but ended up accepting they couldn’t really do anything until she reached out, or revealed more information.

In tonight’s (February 19) episode of the ITV soap, Lauren got chatting to Bethany (Lucy Fallon) about her job as a freelance journalist.

Lauren put forward the idea of selling a story that would see her open up about her time in a far-right gang. Bethany then went away, thought about it, and returned with the news the story can get commissioned, meaning Lauren would also earn some money.

This news made Lauren feel positive, but that was quickly destroyed when Bethany said she’d only earn around £30.

That evening, when Bethany returned looking for her bag, she caught Lauren snooping through it.

She claimed she was checking for ID, but Bethany then realised a fiver was missing and accused Lauren of stealing it.

Not wanting to create trouble, Roy (David Neilson) handed Bethany a £5 note and sent her on her way.

It pained Roy to say it but ultimately, he was left with no choice. He explained to Lauren that it’s important people trust the staff in the cafe and because of her actions, she has to be fired.

This news will leave Lauren feeling as though she doesn’t belong in Weatherfield anymore.

In upcoming episodes, Roy will visit her flat with a pay packet, only to be surprised when Lauren announces she’s leaving.

A little while later, when Bobby goes to the flat looking for his friend, he is puzzled when he finds it empty.

But has Lauren packed up her things ready to start afresh, or is something else going on?
