Coronation Street fire starter revealed after huge mistake as triple exit ‘sealed’
Coronation Street fans were left gobsmacked as the real fire starter was exposed during Monday night's visit to Weatherfield with a triple exit now seemingly confirmed
Coronation Street was full with drama on Monday night as the true arsonist behind the recent Platt family home fire was unveiled.
The fiery storyline had Weatherfield in turmoil, fearing for the fate of its inhabitants since the Platt’s residence went up in smoke, leaving many in peril.
In a heart-stopping turn of events, everyone emerged from the inferno alive, even though Max Turner and Toyah Battersby were carted off to hospital in dire conditions.
The plot recently thickened when it emerged that the disaster was no accident, but an act of arson, and Kevin Webster had CCTV footage to prove it – though it only captured the rear view of the mystery perpetrator in a hood.
With both David Platt and Leanne Battersby hauled in as suspects, Shona Platt and Nick Tilsley feverishly scrambled for clues to clear their names.
On Monday’s episode, Nick and Shona scrutinised the CCTV evidence with Kevin when Shona recognised something shockingly familiar but feigned innocence, trying to deflect suspicion onto Leanne.
However, in a later twist, viewers discovered that Shona had spotted the distinctive hoodie on the video – one she’d gift-wrapped for Max herself.
A tense showdown ensued at the hospital where Shona confronted him, pointing out the memorable Christmas present, exclaiming: “Kev’s got CCTV, you were wearing the hoodie I got you for Christmas, Max, what were you thinking? You absolute idiot, I mean why the hoodie? “, reports Lancs Live.
“It’s got a logo for a skater brand that they only sell in one shop in Manchester. How long do you think it’s going to be until they trace it and trace the mug who paid for it? ” Max tried to reassure her that it wouldn’t lead back to her. Later, David, released from custody with no evidence against him, got wind of Max’s fiery mistake and frantically attempted to retrieve the hoodie he’d stashed in a bin.
Despite failing to reclaim the incriminating garment, David seemed somewhat relieved, suggesting that the bin collection probably took care of their problem by now. But in a twist at the episode’s close, viewers learned that the cops had indeed seized the hoodie.
With Kit Green spearheading its rush to forensic analysis and hunting down the unique skate shop, it spells trouble. With Paddy Bever, who plays Max, set to depart from the ITV soap, is this the end of the line for his character? And will Shona and David find themselves in hot water for trying to obstruct justice?
