Coronation Street icon pays tribute to ‘gorgeous’ co-star after exit
Coronation Street icon Sally Carman has gushed about former co-star Lisa George following her exit from the ITV soap.
The Beth Tinker actress left the show earlier this year because of a medical condition, she previously revealed.
Lisa was diagnosed with NAION – non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy – a condition that causes sudden vision loss in one eye, which prompted her to leave the show to pursue other opportunities.
‘I remember going home [after a trip to the theatre] and it just had a massive impact on me. I thought I wouldn’t be able to work in theatre again. I just had this panic – I’ve got to get out there. I’ve got to do it,’ she said.
Later this year, Lisa will be doing exactly that when she takes on the role of Fairy Godmother in pantomime Cinderella.
Now, three months on from her character’s departure from the cobbles, Lisa has enjoyed ‘two weeks at sea’ on a luxury cruise, sharing pictures to her Instagram and claiming it was ‘just what the doctor ordered’.
The actress wore a stunning green dress paired with pink accessories, which she said was giving ‘Wicked vibes’.
Former Corrie co-star Sally, who plays Abi Webster, was quick to compliment the look, saying: ‘You look gorgeous Lisa.’
She wasn’t the only Corrie star bowled over by Lisa’s look, with Debbie Webster actress Sue Devaney also writing: ‘Glowing in green! Love you and miss you lots.’
Metro recently revealed that Sue is also set to depart the cobbles after an upcoming storyline that will see Debbie diagnosed with dementia.
Metro understands that the heartbreaking storyline has a very long way to play out, so Sue will be on our screens beyond 2025.
