Coronation Street icon takes over the Rovers – and immediately sacks her enemy
Carla Connor (Alison King) has set some serious ground rules after declaring herself as the new owner of the Rovers Return pub in Coronation Street.
Over Christmas, when the boozer was shut, Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) stole money from Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) in order to buy it back. The serial killer pocketed the money from Underworld shortly before he was killed, which meant it technically belonged to Carla.
Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) and Daisy initially agreed to keep the truth (aka, fraud) a secret, but Daisy’s love for retail therapy and her somewhat smug approach to the entire thing came back to haunt her this week.
After Bethany (Lucy Fallon) found Stephen’s journal in the pub back room and started throwing around pretty big accusations, Carla grew suspicious.
In tonight’s episode of the ITV soap, as Daisy set up karaoke for the evening, Jenny was growing increasingly annoyed at her flashing a brand new designer handbag around.
Daisy believed that no-one would actually pick up on the accessory being incredibly expensive, took to the mic, and started singing.
With Jenny’s frustration growing, she approached Daisy and had a go at her for flaunting her wealth, with the duo failing to realise their conversation was being picked up on the microphone.
Awkward.
With Carla in the pub, it wasn’t long until she was confronting Jenny about the accusations and her clash with Daisy.
Moments later, Jenny confessed everything, and Carla was fuming.
At the police station, Carla was forced to wait a long time for an officer. Ryan (Ryan Prescott) used this to his advantage and managed to persuade his Aunt to not report the crime, largely due to the fact he loves Daisy.
Back in the pub, Carla confirmed to Jenny and Daisy that she wouldn’t be reporting them – but that wasn’t the end of the matter.
She announced that she was now owner of the pub – something she didn’t really want, but felt that was the only option in order to get her money back. To really put her foot down, and the fact Daisy showed no remorse over what she had done, Carla sacked her.
Carla was ruthless in the aftermath of this, but she still showed her love for former step mum Jenny by keeping her employed.
However, after revealing that her accountant would look over all of the books, Carla really pulled on the heartstrings by telling Jenny she doesn’t like or trust her anymore.
That evening, Daisy and Jenny got into another argument. Jenny remained convinced Daisy was responsible for creating all of the mess, but she made it clear that if Jenny didn’t want the pub back, she wouldn’t have encouraged the fraud to happen.
The episode ended with Daisy in tears and Jenny heading upstairs. Their plan to take over the pub and steal Stephen’s money has ended in utter disaster – what does the future hold for them both now?
