Coronation Street Jesse’s ‘real plan for Gail revealed’ after cryptic David scene
Coronation Street may have teased what Jesse Chadwick was up to amid fan speculation he could be using Gail Platt on the ITV soap, ahead of her sad exit
Viewers could be set for sad scenes on Coronation Street following Gail Platt’s hospital dash.
The soap icon faced death last week after feeling unwell, with it soon emerging Gail was suffering from a blockage in her left main coronary artery. After an operation, Gail was recovering in hospital with her loved ones fearing she might not make it.
On Sunday night a doctor told Gail’s children and her love interest Jesse Chadwick that Gail’s operation had been a success. The doctor urged them to ensure Gail rested for the time being, while Gail had a surprise of her own.
She woke up surrounded by her family who were thrilled to see she was okay, leading to emotional scenes with her son David. But as Gail confided in new flame Jesse, there may have been a hint at what he might be up to.
Ever since his arrival, Gail’s family have accused him of being up to no good. Some suspected he might be using her for her money, not finding him genuine.
It was the row over Jesse that resulted in her collapse, while Jesse had just rumbled Gail’s son David’s own secret. David had been exposed as the person who stole Damon Hay’s money, and on Sunday night Jesse confronted him.

David ended up opening up to Jesse about the money, where it came from and the plan to get rid of it. But when this failed, David was left wondering what to do only to find out Harvey Gaskell and Damon were no longer looking for the money.
With David possibly in the clear, surprisingly it wasn’t him suggesting they had time to decide what to do with it. While Gail remained in the hospital, Jesse alarmed David when he said to him “we”, meaning the both of them, could decide what to do with the cash.
David was taken aback and asked him what he meant, with Jesse suggesting there were no ill intentions from him. But might Jesse be after the money now that he knows no one will come after him? Could he be about to break Gail’s heart?
Also in the episode Gail shocked Jesse by asking him to marry her. Jesse was stunned and even left the room after the proposal. He did return later on though and said he was “happy” with Gail, before agreeing to marry her.
But does Gail need to watch out ahead of her exit from the soap after 50 years? Given Jesse’s ‘yes’ to the proposal came after the money drama, might he really be up to something?
