Coronation Street killer recruits relative for sinister crime spree
Twisted Coronation Street killer Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) has reunited with his estranged brother Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) in prison – and has made a dangerous proposition.
Damon has returned to a life of crime in order to protect girlfriend Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien) and her children Bethany (Lucy Fallon) and Harry Platt.
Harvey had previously attempted to hurt them by employing one of his cronies to drive a car towards them at high speed – Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) instead.
He’d had teamed up with the murderer in a bid to clear Damon away from Weatherfield forever so he could reconcile with wife Sarah, but the plan backfired when he backed down.
Concerned that his brother would target his new family again, Damon agreed to take part in a robbery that would also secure some much needed cash for them to buy a big house.
When Sarah found out she made him promise to not go ahead with the deal – but it was too late.
The initial plan was to steal a van and run off, with the driver receiving a cut of the takings, but Damon’s accomplices decided that if they killed him, there would be more money to go around.
Horrified at their suggestion, he saved his life and then fled the scene.
Later in the evening, following Harry’s birthday party, an armed response team showed up and arrested him.
In tonight’s (27th March) episode, Sarah was devastated to see her swanky Redbank flat torn apart by a team searching for evidence.
Adam showed up and began to dish out relationship advice but she made it clear that he was the last person she wanted to see.
During a chat with business partner Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown), he asked her to represent Damon.
At Highfield Prison, she told him that it was probably best if he pleaded guilty to receive a reduced sentence and stand a chance of a reunion with Sarah on his release.
But the looming stretch at His Majesty’s Pleasure was the least of his worries when Harvey joined him in his cell for a tense conversation which erupted into a vicious fist fight.
The brothers were left bruised and bloody as they rowed over their respective problems, but then Damon was taken aback by an intriguing offer.
Harvey proposed that they pool their assets and rebuilt the Gaskell criminal empire, which surely could only lead to further danger for Adam.
Back on Victoria Street, Sarah was given food for thought when Dee-Dee informed her that Damon saved the getaway driver’s life and debated whether to accept his visitor request.
Will problems escalate for Sarah and Adam?
