The truth behind Lauren Bolton’s blackmail ordeal on Coronation Street may have been rumbled.
Viewers are sure they have worked out who is to blame for the sinister messages Lauren has been receiving ever since she crashed Tracy Barlow’s van. Viewers know that Lauren had gotten into the driver’s seat after Betsy Swain got into the van to take revenge on Tracy, over the recent shooting.
Lauren ended up speeding off in the van to avoid them being caught only to crash the van, with Tracy reporting it as stolen. Soon a police officer came across the crash site and Betsy told Lauren to run, following her recent run-ins with the law.
With Lauren fearing anymore trouble and worrying she could lose her baby son Frankie, Betsy offered to take the blame given it was her idea in the first place. She told Lauren to lie, and even told her to leave the scene.
Betsy claimed to the police that she was the one whole stole the van and then crashed it. Despite the officer knowing Lauren, or someone, was at the scene with Betsy, the teen lied that she was alone and kept Lauren out of it.

Of course Betsy’s mother Lisa Swain questioned this given Betsy had her arm in a sling at the time. The officer also described a young blonde woman being with Betsy, leaving Lisa sure Betsy was covering for someone.
After someone began sending Lauren messages claiming they knew she was the one who actually crashed the vehicle, she tried to ignore it and told them she wasn’t worried. But they soon revealed they meant business and sent her an image that proved Lauren was driving the van with Betsy in the passenger seat.
Lauren was sickened knowing someone was now making demands, and on Wednesday the messages continued. But amid spoilers hinting former love interest Bobby Crawford could be behind it all, with Lauren soon setting a trap for him, fans are not so sure.

Some fans had wondered if it was Betsy behind the blackmail, maybe working with someone to get back at Lauren. But now fans are convinced a former character who might be out to get Lauren could actually be to blame.
One theory questioned if Lauren’s dad Reece Bolton might be trying to get her in trouble after their recent clash, with Lauren disowning him. But the main theory is that it might be someone else’s father out to get Lauren after a past feud.
Viewers think Joel Deering’s father Gus Deering might be targeting Lauren, just like he did months earlier following Joel’s death. The theory suggests he might be trying to get to grandson Frankie, and could try to get Lauren in trouble to get custody.
One viewer said online: “Got a feeling that it’s Joel’s dad and that’s how he arrives.” Another said: “The grandparents of Frankie?” as a third added: “I think it’s the parents of Joel.”
