Coronation Street Lauren’s boyfriend ‘exposed’ – Cobbles killer, Dee-Dee link and soap favourite
Coronation Street's Lauren Bolton is currently missing and fans have been speculating about the identity of her mystery boyfriend who is likely responsible for her disappearance
Coronation Street fans have “exposed” the identity of Lauren Bolton’s mystery boyfriend.
Fans became aware of Lauren’s (Cait Fitton) secret beau when she began buying extravagant gifts for her friends. It was later revealed the man was supporting her financially.
Lauren eventually called off their romance, but things took a dark turn when someone showed up and Lauren’s door and she was later seen with bruises on her arm. Amidst the drama, Lauren signed up for O-Vidz and Bobby discovered that someone called DirtyNigel54 had posted online about her.
Lauren vanished from Weatherfield last month and is now presumed dead. There are a number of familiar faces who fans believe could be responsible for Lauren’s disappearance, including a Cobbles favourite and a killer.
Nathan Curtis
A number of viewers believe Nathan Curtis (Christopher William Harper) is Lauren’s mystery man. Nathan was part of a gang who groomed young girls, including Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) in 2017.
Similar to Lauren’s experience, Nathan showered Bethany with expensive gifts to win her over. She eventually reported Nathan to the police and he was served with a custodial sentence.
But there’s every chance the villain could have been released after more than six years behind bars. Writing on X, one speculated: “What are them bruises on Lauren? What is she involved with? Could it be Nathan she’s involved with? Bethany’s groomer from years back?”
Another agreed: “Lauren’s boyfriend is Nathan isn’t it, why oh why would you do this corrie.” A third added: “Is Lauren’s boyfriend Nathan (Bethany’s abusive ex) by any chance?”
Echoing this, a fourth penned: “When’s Nathan due out of prison? My money’s on him being Lauren’s secret boyfriend.” Meanwhile someone else simply stated: “Ah so it is it’s Nathan.”
Tommy Orpington
Footballer turned painter and decorator Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn) has also been thrown into the mix. While he recently made moves on Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), some believe his personal life is even messier than sleeping with a married woman.
Fans know Lauren has received lavish bouquets of flowers, and Tommy has been spending plenty of time at the florists over the last few months. And with his previous career, Tommy would have no problem financially supporting Lauren.
Sharing their theories online, one wrote: “Who is Lauren’s mystery boyfriend?! Tommy O?! Surely it’s a big character #corrie.” Agreeing, another penned: “Is Lauren’s secret love Tommy Orpington she’s got a Weatherfield county jacket on is there a link? #CoronationStreet.” Another simply speculated: “Maybe the footballer.”
Joel Deering
Another popular theory is that Dee-Dee Bailey’s (Channique Sterling-Brown) boyfriend Joel Deering (Calum Lill) is the culprit. The duty solicitor arrived in the Cobbles last September and immediately hit it off with fellow solicitor Dee-Dee.
But it appears Joel is hiding a secret as last month, he was confronted by a mystery woman named Emily. Fans were convinced Joel was Lauren’s boyfriend after the same arrangement of flowers sent to her were also given to Dee-Dee.
A viewer theorised online: “Maybe completely wrong but did you notice Dee Dee and Lauren received same bouquet of flowers making me wonder if the guy seeing Dee Dee is the same guy abusing Lauren.”
Other fans agreed with this idea after noticing the same thing. Another wrote: “Didn’t Lauren ‘s secret boyfriend buy her an expensive piece of jewellery a while back…could be Joel , made some excuse about bracelet for his daughter.”
A third speculated: “Joel (Dee Dee’s BF) and Nathan (Bethany’s groomer from years ago) ARE BROTHERS!! and something is going on with them, and Lauren!!” Someone else suggested: “I wonder if Joel is Lauren’s secret guy?”
Rob Donovan
Killer Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis), the half-brother of Carla Connor (Alison King) is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) in 2014. Although it is unlikely that he could be the man terrorising Lauren, fans still think he’s an option.
The character made several appearances on the soap between 2015 and 2017, including when he escaped from behind bars. His long-lost son Bobby (Jack Carroll) was introduced at the end of 2023, and has been a central part of Lauren’s story.
Fans are now sure they’ve cracked the link between Rob and Lauren. One speculated: “I guess he’s in prison but what if Lauren’s mystery man is Rob and that’s why Bobby is involved?! #corrie.”
“Wouldn’t surprise me if Rob Donovan is Lauren’s secret boyfriend,” agreed another. Echoing this, a third penned: “and when lauren’s boyfriend turns out to be rob? then what.”
Daniel Osbourne
In what would be a huge twist, Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) could turn out to be hiding a huge secret. With the soap hoping to shock viewers, Daily Star quizzed ‘creative’ tool Bard AI to see if Lauren’s boyfriend could be someone completely unexpected.
The program responded: “The mystery boyfriend could be someone unexpected, even someone already established in the Corrie universe. Some fans have noticed Lauren and Daniel’s connection and wonder if the writers might be building towards a surprise twist.”
The program also pointed out potential “unrequited feelings” between the characters. It said: “There have been suggestions that Lauren might have developed feelings for Daniel, but it’s unclear if he reciprocates them.”
