Former Coronation Street star Ellie Leach has admitted that she misses working on the long-running ITV soap.

She joined the show in 2011 as Faye, the foster daughter of Anna (Debbie Rush) and Eddie Windass (Steve Huison), and during her 12 year stint was involved in some of the show’s most high profile stories.

From teenage pregnancy to discovering the identity of her estranged father Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine), she bowed out last year with her final story exploring Faye reconnect with daughter Miley and move to Slough.

After leaving the show, she won the 21st series of Strictly Come Dancing alongside professional dancer Vito Coppola.

Her journey beyond soapland is currently being explored in ITVBe fly-on-the-wall series Drama Queens, as she takes on a new role in the nationwide tour of Cluedo 2.

Last night’s (18th April) episode followed her real life cousin Brooke Vincent, who played Sophie Webster in Coronation Street between 2004 and 2019, hosting a wellness event in central Manchester to promote her stationary company Oh So B.

Brooke had invited a wealth of her former colleagues along to the event, including Ellie and Bethany Platt actress Lucy Fallon.

‘I can’t believe how many from Corrie are here’ commented Lucy.

Ellie replied: ‘It’s so nice though because I haven’t really seen anyone since I left. It’s almost been a year.’

‘Do you feel like you miss it, when you’re with everybody?’ Lucy went on to ask.

‘I think I’ll always miss it because I grew up there. But I didn’t die, so I could always go back’ she replied.

Lucy joked: ‘Even if you did die, you could probably go back!’

In the first episode of Drama Queens, she reflected on the scrutiny she faced over her relationships.

Despite it previously being thought that Ellie and Vito were an item, it’s recently been rumoured that the actress was actually romantically involved with EastEnders star Bobby Brazier.

‘I think that doing Strictly opened my eyes to being like… in a fishbowl. I didn’t realise that every single thing you did would be put in the papers’ she told her mum Karen.

She added: ‘It’s upsetting that people believe what they read. Nine times out of ten it isn’t true.’
