Coronation Street legend disowns brother after uncovering his crimes
Coronation Street legend Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) was left furious in tonight’s episode after uncovering the truth about Carl Webster’s (Jonathan Howard) dodgy dealings.
Since his arrival on the cobbles, Carl has been up to no good, from seducing Abi Webster (Sally Carman) to setting up an MOT scam in Webster’s Autos.
However, Kevin hasn’t exactly been an angel either, having lied to Abi about his cancer treatment. Despite having been given the all clear, Kevin told her that he needed more chemotherapy.
In tonight’s episode, Kevin overheard Carl talking to his associate Fiona, as they plotted the theft of a car from the garage.
When Kevin spotted Fiona speeding away in the car, he attempted to chase after her, but ended up losing his breath and needing to go to hospital.
It was there that he confronted Carl about his scheme, revealing that he had seen Fiona drive off in the car after their cosy chat.
Carl attempted to deny any knowledge of the robbery, but was quickly shut down by Kevin who made it clear that he knew he was lying.
Not willing to be lectured on honesty by his brother, Carl pointed out that it was hypocritical, given that he had just found out from a doctor that Kevin hadn’t had a chemotherapy treatment for months.
As Kevin explained how he was afraid that he’d lose Abi if he came clean about getting the all-clear, he blamed Carl for disrupting their marriage, and promised to find out the true extent of his crimes at the garage.
When Kevin threatened to have Carl arrested, the younger sibling retorted that he would tell Abi the truth, before taking him down for the con as well, given that his signature was on all the fake MOTs.
As Carl threatened to destroy Kevin’s entire world, their conversation was brought to an abrupt end by Abi’s arrival.
However, this wasn’t the end of their row as Kevin later pointed out that he could shop Carl at any time, leaving Carl wondering what this meant for them.
It was soon clear that Kevin had made up his mind as he declared that Carl was dead to him.
Is their relationship beyond repair, and will either one of them make good on their promise to bring the other down?
