Coronation Street legend fears the worst as court date looms after criminal act
A moment fuelled with anger and a desperate need of revenge has changed Jack Webster’s (Kyran Bowes) future in Coronation Street.
Recently, Abi (Sally Carman) and Kevin (Michael Le Vell) discovered Stefan Brent’s office and car had been set on fire.
Stefan is the father of Corey, the young man who killed Abi’s son Seb.
When DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) arrived in Weatherfield, she turned her attention to Abi and wondered if she was responsible for the arson attack. Swain had her suspicions given Stefan’s connection to Corey, and Abi’s ordeal surrounding the deepfake pornography videos.
After a chat with Tyrone (Alan Halsall), Abi was able to work out Kevin’s son Jack was responsible. Aware he had lied about where he was the night before, Abi gently confronted Jack, who then confirmed the truth.
In the aftermath, Abi and Kevin debated how to handle the situation, though it was soon taken out of their hands when Jack confessed of his own accord.
Jack was questioned by DS Swain, and he insisted that he’d had no idea that Stefan was still in the building when he’d set the place alight. Unfortunately, this story didn’t add up for Swain, who pointed out that CCTV proved that it was very clear the building wasn’t empty when Jack started the fire.
Because of this, DS Swain revealed that Jack would be charged with arson with the intent to endanger life – a very serious crime indeed.
Following the interrogation, solicitor Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) explained to Abi and Kevin that Jack could be looking at a spell in youth offenders.
He revealed that if he pleaded guilty then he would likely end up wearing a tag, but may be able to avoid a custodial sentence.
However, when Kevin questioned the possibility of a not guilty plea, Adam warned that if the jury found him guilty, then Jack would have a higher risk of being put behind bars.
In upcoming episodes, Jack is feeling anxious as his court date approaches – but just what will the outcome be?
Will this young man be forced to leave the cobbles and spend time behind bars?
