Coronation Street legend Ken Barlow faces death as Cassie Plummer’s real plan exposed

There were upsetting scenes on Coronation Street on Wednesday night as Ken Barlow faced death.

He’d just rumbled his carer Cassie Plummer for her cruel actions, after months of his daughter Tracy Barlow trying to warn him what was going on. Cassie has been drugging Ken for months, even causing a hospital dash and ill health.

All the while she’s been using his credit card and getting money from him, while trying to make him think he was having memory issues. After much suspicion towards Cassie, Ken finally stopped defending her on Wednesday.

But as he caught her out there was quite the showdown, and Ken suffered a heart attack when no one was home. Moments earlier he’d realised what Cassie was up to, switching the drinks to see if she would drink the one she spiked.

Her reaction to the switched mugs was all he needed to know he was right, and he asked her about her real plans for him. As Cassie tried to explain herself, Ken threatened to call the police on her and take his revenge.

Things took a worrying turn though when Ken suddenly collapsed in agony, falling into his chair. He was found by Tracy who with daughter Amy Barlow got him rushed to hospital, where doctors revealed Ken’s fate.

Ken had suffered a heart attack and needed an urgent operation to fit a stent with doctors warning an artery was blocked. They also warned there could be complications from the risky procedure due to Ken’s age.

As his family gathered around his bedside, Cassie was back on the cobbles packing up her things having heard what had happened to Ken. At the hospital Ken woke up much to the relief of his loved ones.

He began shouting Cassie’s name and Tracy realised something was up. Offscreen, he told them all what had happened and what Cassie had done, leaving Tracy furious.

She raced back to the Cobbles and stopped Cassie in her tracks, confronting her in the street before attacking her. The police suddenly showed up, as Tracy revealed all to Cassie’s granddaughter Hope Stape about what she’d done.

The police then confirmed they were there to arrest Cassie on a charge of drugging with intent to cause harm. Cassie screamed out claiming she’d done nothing wrong with Hope left reeling, as Tracy watched on pleased to see her finally face justice for what she had done to poor Ken. But will Cassie get away with it?
