Coronation Street legend killed off in heartbreaking scenes as his family mourn
CORONATION Street legend Les Battersby’s death was revealed today in heartbreaking scenes – along with a mystery over it.
The cobbles favourite – who is played by actor Bruce Jones in the ITV soap – was killed off by soap bosses off-screen in today’s episode.
His daughter Leanne was visited by police and informed of his death.
“Leanne Battersby, there’s no easy way to say this – your dad was involved in an accident at work last night,” the policewoman told her.
“I’m sorry but he died from his injuries.”
However it wasn’t revealed what the accident was – leaving it open to a mystery.
The policewoman offered to tell the rest of the family but Leanne insisted she would do it.
Breaking down to Nick, she said: “I can’t believe it. I only texted him last week and I completely ignored him.
“I couldn’t even be bothered to text him back. He was probably inviting us round for Christmas and I was already trying to work out how to get out of it. I’m a terrible daughter.”
She went to tell Toyah, but Nick had already warned her so she didn’t put her foot in it but Leanne was suspicious.
Leanne was temporarily distracted by having to tell Chesney about Les’ death but she soon realised that Toyah defending Nick meant something was going on.
Confronting Nick she demanded to know if there was anything he needed to tell her but he denied it.
Following her gut, Leanne followed Nick when he said he had to go out and she found him meeting Toyah in the hotel.
She watched heartbroken as they went upstairs for some afternoon delight.
Later, after a peptalk from Tracy, Leanne settled on a course of action and convinced Nick that he was her rock, asking to move back into the flat.
“I’m nobody’s fool,” she told Tracy as she caught her moving back in to presumably play happy families.
But what will Leanne do to the pair of them now? And what really happened to Les?
