Coronation Street legend Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) was left reeling in recent scenes when it was confirmed that he had a son he knew nothing about.

Earlier this week, Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) ran into Tyrone’s former lover Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu), who had a young boy as her phone lockscreen.

Though Alina argued that it was her nephew, Fiz knew that he was the right age to be Tyrone’s son, from when the couple were together.

In tonight’s episode, the truth was finally revealed, when Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) kidnapped Alina and brought her back to Coronation Street.

Cassie was helping out on the phone at Street Cars when Alina called in, asking for a taxi to the airport. Cassie recognised her name, and soon drove out to pick her up herself, so that Tyrone could talk to her.

Tyrone and Alina were equally horrified by Cassie’s actions, though Alina eventually agreed to talk to Tyrone.

Tyrone was desperate to know whether Alina’s son, Dorin, was also his, and soon Alina confessed that he was.

The pair then sat down for an important chat in the café, where Alina revealed that she had been living in Hastings, which was where Dorin was born.

This was an important piece of information for Tyrone, who had previously sought legal advice from Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) about what he could do if Dorin was his. Dee-Dee had explained that it would be easier for him if he was born in the UK, as Romanian laws were much more complicated.

When Alina announced that she was planning to go back to Romania and return in a few weeks to give a witness statement in her traffickers’ trial, Tyrone lamented that he and Dorin didn’t know each other.

Later, Tyrone revealed all to Fiz, and explained that Alina had decided to stay in the UK until the end of the trial, and that she would be staying in the Chariot Square Hotel.

Fiz was furious to discover that Tyrone had promised to pay for it, but agreed to take on extra shifts at work so that the family could still afford their anticipated holiday.

Tyrone then had the task of breaking the news to daughters Hope and Ruby (Isabella Flanagan and Billie Naylor), and it was safe to say that Hope didn’t take it well.

When Fiz later asked what Tyrone would say if Alina asked him to be part of Dorin’s life for good, she was upset when he said he’d say yes.

Could this put a strain on Tyrone’s relationship with his family? Or could Tyrone be tempted to go for full custody of his son?
