Coronation Street fan favourite Kevin Webster, played by Michael Le Vell, is set to face a significant health scare in the upcoming episodes as he gets diagnosed with testicular cancer.

In the forthcoming scenes, Debbie Webster (Sue Delvaney) drops by No. 13 and finds a visibly distressed Kevin who reveals that he has discovered a lump.

A stunned Debbie encourages Kevin to discuss his concerns about the lump with Abi Webster (Sally Carmen). However, when Kevin encounters an emotional Abi at her late son Seb Franklin’s memorial garden, he decides it’s not the right time to share his alarming news.

Unaware of Kevin’s predicament, Abi informs him that little Alfie Franklin is unwell with a cold, so she plans to stay home with him for the day.

In the meantime, Kevin consults Dr Gaddas who refers him for additional tests. He confides in Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) about his cancer fears before returning home to find Abi asleep on the sofa with Alfie, reports Lancs Live.

After taking Alfie upstairs, Debbie enters the house and Abi wakes up to find Alfie missing. She accuses Debbie of taking Alfie and defends her overreaction when Debbie attempts to leave.

Amidst the chaos, Kevin discloses to Abi that he has found a lump and might have testicular cancer, leaving Abi utterly shocked. According to Gambling.com, soap veteran Michael, who first appeared in 1983, has odds of 11/10 to exit Coronation Street this year.

Producer Kate Brooks recently dished on the upcoming plot twist, revealing: “As we go into the New Year, Kevin will discover that he’s got testicular cancer, which causes a massive strain on his relationship.”

She continued to explain the impact on the characters, saying: “Abi is a really strong character, but she’s going through her own turmoil at the same time. We want to tell this really truthfully.”

Kate emphasised the importance of accuracy in the storyline: “We’ve been working closely with Macmillan to make sure that we tell the story right.”

She also mentioned that the narrative will focus heavily on the couple’s bond: “about their relationship” and “testing that relationship”. Viewers have been left wondering if Kevin’s diagnosis will lead to his departure from the show after more than 40 years.
