Coronation Street legend ‘set to return’ as fans predict Carl Webster takedown
Coronation Street enthusiasts are predicting the return of a fan-favourite character to foil the cunning Carl Webster. Carl, portrayed by Jonathan Howard, made his debut earlier this year as the brother of Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Debbie (Sue Devaney), promptly causing a stir on the cobbles.
His initial appearance saw him cross paths with his sister-in-law Abi (Sally Carman), igniting an unmistakable spark between them. However, they were unaware of their family ties until later.
Furthermore, glimpses into Carl’s enigmatic past have started to emerge, particularly regarding his reasons for leaving Germany to settle in Weatherfield, reports OK!.
It was revealed that Carl’s business in Germany – where he had lived for years – is struggling. Recently, however, Carl has been showing his true colours, resorting to desperate measures to secure some funds.
He’s become entangled with scam artist Fiona (Sara Poyzer) and her dodgy car business. In Monday’s episode (June 2), Carl began using his brother Kevin’s garage for illicit jobs and deals for Fiona, all in exchange for cash.
However, fans believe Carl’s downfall is on the horizon and they’ve identified exactly who will expose him. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, viewers are forecasting the comeback of Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent).
Sophie, Kevin’s daughter and one-time staff member at the famed garage, might just be the ticket to derail her dodgy Uncle Carl’s crooked business dealings, reckon the die-hard fans. With Carl’s shady shenanigans poised to land Kevin in hot water, the audience is desperate for someone to step in.
One enthusiast declared: “Carl’s ‘job’ is going to backfire massively on Kevin. Someone please take him down or something!”.
Another suggested: “They should get Sophie to return.” Reinforcing this view, another fan weighed in: “Yep she wouldn’t stand for it!”
