Coronation Street legend tells a major lie – and huge consequences follow
Coronation Street legend David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) has told a major lie to Shona Platt (Julia Goulding), which is set to have huge repercussions.
Shona was left devastated in recent scenes when she learnt that son Clayton had attempted suicide in prison.
Horrified that she hadn’t been informed that he was struggling, today’s episode saw Shona attend a meeting with the prison governor, alongside David.
However, she was left confused when the governor insisted that she had been sent visiting orders and that somebody had visited Clayton before he tried to take his life.
Viewers will know that it was David who had intercepted the letters and gone to see Clayton, where he told him that Shona wanted nothing to do with it.
David put on a good show as he accused the governor of lying about the visiting orders, but it didn’t take long for Shona to grow suspicious of him.
Back at home, she questioned whether he had hidden the visiting orders from her, but he protested his innocence.
Though Shona believed him, Max Turner (Paddy Bever) struggled to hide his suspicions as he pointed out that visiting orders were the one thing the prison kept on top of when he was inside.
Later this week, David will confess to Max that he hid the visiting orders and visited Clayton, while Shona continues to spiral.
Desperate for answers, Shona heads to the prison, where an argument with the governor ends with her shoving him.
When Max arrives on the scene, will he tell her the truth?
Next week, Shona sneaks off to a hotel room late at night to meet with someone – could she have found out the truth about David’s lies and let it drive them apart?
