Coronation Street lines up possible romance for Steve after Tracy’s exit
Will he dip his toes back into the dating world?
Steve McDonald is looking to move on quickly from the recent Tracy disaster in Coronation Street.
Earlier this month, his wife Tracy upped sticks to Spain with her lover Tommy Orpington after her marriage to Steve fell apart, and although it’s unclear whether she’ll return to Weatherfield one day, her husband isn’t wasting any time in looking for love again.
In scenes airing Friday, April 26, Tim Metcalfe advises his downbeat friend to arrange a date with potential online suitor Demi.
Tim points out that Steve needs to make sure she’s an actual human being and she’s exactly who she says she is.
Fed up with his dithering, though, Tim grabs Steve’s phone and sends a text to Demi asking her out.
As for whether she agrees to meet up, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Previously addressing the Steve and Tracy split storyline, actor Simon Gregson said of his on-screen wife’s betrayal: “He’s been coping with it quite well I think, all things considered. He seems to have accepted she’s had an affair, well on the outside at least, but he’s absolutely devastated at how Tommy could do this to him.
“He gets why Tracy is attracted to Tommy, but he’s just so upset that his idol has done this to him. She wants more for her life and she thinks the grass is greener – which of course we all know it rarely is, well maybe it is for a while but then it’s just the same grass elsewhere. She may eventually start to realise that, but in the meantime Steve’s very, very hurt.”
