Coronation Street ‘reveals’ Leanne’s murder victim – and it’s bad news for Gail Platt
Coronation Street seems to be hinting at a deadly plot twist for Leanne Battersby.
Soap legend Jane Danson, who has portrayed Leanne since 1997, is a cornerstone of the cobbles. Arriving with the rest of the Battersby family, Leanne has evolved into one of the show’s most cherished characters.
Leanne has certainly had her fair share of dramatic storylines, particularly in the past year. Viewers will remember how she was drawn into the enigmatic ‘self-help’ group, The Institute, led by the ominous Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper).
Leanne became deeply involved in the cult, prioritising The Institute over her family and loved ones, including her fiance Nick (Ben Price) and sister Toyah (Georgia Taylor).
However, in a shocking twist, Nick and Toyah ended up having an affair, which Rowan used as blackmail against Nick. In ‘true’ soap opera style, Leanne eventually discovered the truth about Toyah and Nick, leaving her devastated and furious, reports Plymouth Live.
Recently, Toyah and Nick reignited their romance, and despite their attempts to keep it under wraps, Leanne found out. Swearing vengeance, Leanne is now determined to make them pay.
In Wednesday’s episode (December 4), the storyline took a dark turn. Spotting Nick fixing fairy lights, Leanne stealthily approached the plug and switched it on.
She then watched with a smirk as Nick was electrocuted. Luckily, this turned out to be a figment of Leanne’s imagination, and she quickly snapped back to reality.
Corrie enthusiasts are now buzzing with speculation that Leanne could take a dark turn and become a killer, especially after a ‘clue’ was spotted on the soap. With suspicion mounting that Nick might be her first target, it spells potential doom for the Platts.
On a Corrie fan page on Facebook, accompanied by a photo of Leanne, a user predicted: “The next serial killer. She’s on the edge, the next serial killer on the street.”
This sparked agreement, with one commenting: “Wouldn’t be surprised,” and another adding, “Poor Nick! ” A different fan speculated: “That was quite dark thinking from Leanne. Could she try to kill Nick and Toyah.”
