Coronation Street spoiler video: Roy Cropper’s police confession makes everything worse

Kind-hearted Roy Cropper (David Neilson) makes a mistake in Coronation Street soon, and it’s one that could jeapordise his future in Weatherfield.

Following Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) disappearance, Roy discovered from Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) that her landlord wasn’t happy she had been sub-letting the flat.

Roy – who was often seen looking out for Lauren – took it upon himself to clean the flat for Evelyn but when Bobby (Jack Carroll) arrived, he was troubled and wondered whether Roy was hiding something.

Roy’s good nature comes back to haunt him in this new video, as he finds himself being questioned by DS Swain (Vicky Myers) and Craig (Colson Smith).

In the cafe, a curious Swain wonders what Roy intended to do with Lauren’s belongings. He reveals the rubbish was thrown in the bin, and that he’s washing some of her clothes in the flat upstairs.

A mistake.

Roy tells Swain and Craig that he’s washing Lauren’s clothes so they’re ready for her if she returns. A thoughtful gesture but to Swain, it looks suspicious.

And unfortunately for Roy, the errors don’t stop there. He then tells the detective taking his fingerprints won’t be beneficial, as he had rubber gloves on while cleaning the flat.

Oh dear.

‘He ends up in the frame because she interviews Bobby and there are certain elements of that conversation that raise suspicion’, Vicky Myers, who plays DS Swain, told us.

‘Then she goes ahead and goes to interview Roy, and I guess because of his honesty and slight vulnerability, she sees that he’s almost too good to be true.’

‘I think that’s perhaps the cynics that we may become as people and a community, in that this almost seems too good to be true. Do people really genuinely go and help someone and support someone and give them a little bit extra after they’ve done something terrible, and they’re there with the generosity?

‘So she picks that apart and thinks: “That can’t be right. This is raising suspicion”. And then it continues from there really.’
