Coronation Street spoilers: Bethany targeted by far right group as she takes big risk over terrorism ordeal

Bethany asks Lauren for information in the cafe in Coronation Street

Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) has received worrying threats from an extremist group as she plans her next Chit-Chat scoop in Coronation Street.

After betraying boyfriend Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) and penning an article about his ex Daisy Midgeley’s (Charlotte Jordan) affair and catfishing of Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), he encouraged her to seek permission before writing down her next big story.

Speaking with troubled teen Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) in the café, she told her that she could offer her £30 in exchange for selling her emotional life story.

Viewers will remember that Lauren was groomed into a far right extremist group by her dad Reece (Scott Anson), with them manipulating her into employing Max Turner (Paddy Bever) as their next target.

They proceeded to launch vile attacks on Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) and planted a bomb in the Speed Daal van that put Alya Nazir’s (Sair Khan) life at risk.

Finding out that there was only thirty quid in the story, Lauren wasn’t interested – leaving Bethany to do her own digging.

In tonight’s (February 21st) episode, Daniel was concerned when Bethany received some threatening messages.

Having reached out to one of the gang members, she didn’t get the welcome response she was expecting.

Daniel suggested that she report it to the police and stray away from telling the story, especially since Lauren decided wasn’t too keen.

When Bethany was dead-set on continuing with her piece, Daniel recommended she run it past Max first.

Should she quit whilst she’d ahead, or will she continue to put herself in danger?
