Coronation Street spoilers: Crunch time for Chesney Brown and Gemma Winter as they get big news
Recently in Coronation Street, Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) and Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) were faced with the unexpected prospect of Joseph (William Flanagan) attending a posh, expensive and private school called Oakhill.
It was Joseph’s grandma Linda (Jacqueline Leonard) who put forward the idea after his attendance at his usual school dropped due to contracting Lyme disease.
Linda told Chesney and Gemma that she’d pay for the fees, but they weren’t exactly keen.
However, during a chat with Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) and Paul (Peter Ash), Gemma was given food for thought when they pointed out Oakhill is the opportunity of a lifetime and she shouldn’t deprive Joseph simply because she hates his gran.
Linda has always felt that Joseph gets pushed out now that the family has expanded to include his quad siblings. Previously she horrified Chesney by suggesting that Joseph should come and live with her in Portugal.
Usually Linda’s interventions are well-meaning and she truly wants what’s best for Joseph, but she doesn’t realise that she’s trampling on the sensitivities of his parents when she suggests they’re not doing a good enough job of raising the boy.
In upcoming episodes of the ITV soap, it’s a tense day for the family as Gemma and Ches set off with Joseph for the Oakhill entrance exam.
Towards the end of the week, Chesney receives a call from Dawn, the Admissions Officer at Oakhill, to inform him that Joseph passed the exam and she’ll be round tomorrow for the all important interview.
Gemma and Chesney set about cleaning the house in preparation for Dawn’s visit, but how will the interview go?
Will Joseph secure a place at Oakhill ready for September?
