Coronation Street spoilers: Daniel Osbourne ‘exposed’ as a killer in teen Lauren Bolton murder shocker

DS Swain questions Daniel in a police interview room in Corrie

Coronation Street’s Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) may be intelligent, articulate and have great hair, but could he also be a murdering pervert? This is the question the police begin to ponder in upcoming episodes as the search for Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) becomes a murder hunt.

When Sean (Antony Cotton) considers renting Lauren’s flat he goes to have a look and makes a gruesome discovery – bloodstains on the curtains.

This is quickly reported to DS Swain (Vicky Myers), who goes to have a look along with Craig (Colson Smith).

Max Turner (Paddy Bever) has has suspicions about what could have happened to Lauren after he asks Daniel about his tutoring sessions with Lauren.

Daniel’s answers don’t match what Max has already heard from Lauren.

When Max goes to the police to tell them about Lauren’s O-Vidz account, they’re also interested to hear if he knows anything about the secret boyfriend that Lauren often talked about. Max says that he never met Lauren’s boyfriend, but he always suspected it was Daniel.

This is enough to raise DS Swain’s suspicions and she talks to Daniel, suggesting that perhaps Lauren paid for their tutoring sessions with sex.

Daniel is horrified by this suggestion but Swain mentions some episodes from Daniel’s history that suggest he mightn’t be as squeaky clean as he’s making out.

There’s his prior relationship with former sex worker Nicky Wheatley (Kimberly Hart-Simpson), for one thing.

Another is when he was accused of ‘blurring the boundaries’ when he was a teacher and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) was a pupil who had a crush on him – and someone else he gave private tuition to.

None of this looks good for Daniel and he begins to get seriously worried when he discovers that the police are now treating Lauren’s disappearance as possible murder – and he’s in the frame.

Later, Daniel nervously talks to Ken (William Roache) about what happened, telling his dad that he’s seriously scared that he’ll end up being charged with a murder he didn’t commit.
