Coronation Street spoilers: Desperate sleuth Roy pieces together a big clue on Lauren’s murder

Roy in jail in Coronation Street

Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) was on hand to help Roy Cropper (David Neilson) in Wednesday’s (May 1) episode of Coronation Street, and it appears the chat with his friend was exactly what Roy needed.

The beloved character has been in hospital since Monday after collapsing in his cell. During his recovery, Roy was visited by DS Swain (Vicky Myers), who wanted to know why he called her last week.

Roy was very close to telling Swain about Carla (Alison King) and Bobby’s (Jack Carroll) attempt at lying in a statement to get him off the hook. However, when Roy spotted Carla outside the hospital ward room, he couldn’t bring himself to get her into trouble, and told DS Swain he wanted an update on Lauren’s (Cait Fitton) case instead.

When Roy eventually allowed Carla to visit, he said he was unable to move past her dishonesty, and doesn’t want to be friends with her anymore.

Roy in court in Coronation Street

In tonight’s episode of the ITV soap, Mary popped by the hospital to see her friend.

They passed time by doing a crossword, but topic of conversation then turned to Roy recalling pieces of information about Lauren.

He said to Mary that he’s busy trying to remember a chat between Lauren and Max (Paddy Bever), but is struggling to find anything of significance.

Mary told Roy he should keep at it with trying to recall past moments with Lauren and later, he sat with a pen and paper to write things down as well.

As Roy returned to his cell, he experienced another flashback of Lauren in the café.

It became clear Roy was focusing a lot on the necklace Lauren had around her neck, which was bought by her mysterious boyfriend.

If Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) and the police are able to identify who purchased Lauren’s necklace, will this lead them to prove Roy is innocent?
