There’s emotional scenes on Coronation Street next week, with a heartbreaking diagnosis confirmed.

Other scenes will see more than one character come to blows leading to a double punch-up, while there’s also a new arrival and a proposal. Secrets come to light and there’s a surprise return too, and tough scenes lie ahead for more than one family.

The big storyline of the week is the heartbreaking news for Debbie at a life-changing doctors appointment. After suffering a handful of worrying incidents including a recent fall and confusion, as well as misplacing her possessions, she makes a call to a doctor.

Viewers will see flashbacks to each incident she refers to, before she’s left concerned to be told she may have suffered a mini stroke and that the doctor wants to refer her for some more tests for vascular dementia. Debbie is reeling and is unsure what to say to her partner Ronnie Bailey, and throws herself into work.

More than one character come to blows leading to a double punch-up

Later in the week as Debbie continues to reel from her possible diagnosis she’s left confused by a text message from her sister-in-law Abi Franklin. Another incident sparks further turmoil for her, but their could be some joy for her amidst her fears as Ronnie arrives and proposes to Debbie – but will she say yes?

The soap confirmed months ago that it would be tackling young onset dementia for a heartbreaking storyline with Debbie. Elsewhere, her brother Kevin Webster has turmoil of his own amid his treatment for cancer as he lashes out at those around him. In one violent showdown he smacks pal Tyrone Dobbs cross the face after a run-in, amid the pair falling out over their kids.

His relationship with teen son Jack is strained, and as Tyrone decides to put things aside for his mate he regrets it when Kevin hits out at him. As Tyrone blasts Kevin for being nasty and selfish he sees red, punching Tyrone – with events causing an almighty row with his wife Abi.

Kevin tries to make amends later in the week and does so, while he’s forced to stop his possible future brother-in-law Ronnie when he violently pins nightmare neighbour Mick against a wall. But the violence doesn’t end there, as Abi ends up punching someone unaware of their link to each other.

A row over a parking space leads to Abi screaming at newcomer Carl Webster as he makes his debut. She has no idea it’s her brother-in-law, and as things escalate she lashes out and punches him in the nose, leaving him bleeding.

There's also a new arrival

Soon back on the street she’s telling Debbie and Kevin about the incident with their brother, and as she steps away she’s stunned to return and find Carl with the group, realising who he is.

Meanwhile Tyrone gets another shock next week, when his son Dorin returns with it revealed his mother Alina Pop’s house has flooded. Also next week Betsy Swain is concerned for Dylan Wilson, and Carla Connor breaks the news to Jenny that she’s selling the pub.

Christina Boyd and daughter Daisy Midgeley continue their plan against Jenny, while Kit Green flirts with Sarah Platt. Gemma Winter tries to avoid Lou but is caught out, while Dee-Dee Bailey is determined to get justice after her recent ordeal.

Finally next week Todd Grimshaw discovers what his new flame Theo is really hiding. Theo begs him not to cause a scene, but what has he discovered?
