Coronation Street spoilers: Final Lauren murder twist confirmed as a huge arrest is made after breakthrough

Roy Cropper (David Neilson) is currently locked away in prison in Coronation Street for a crime he most certainly didn’t commit – the murder of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).

But although viewers and Roy’s friends in Weatherfield are convinced of his innocence, the police have so far been satisfied that Roy is their man.

Upcoming episodes see the dramatic conclusion of this storyline – and another arrest is made. Is Roy about to be exonerated as the truth is revealed?

Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) decides to take some risky action after Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) continues to disrupt Bethany (Lucy Fallon)’s life yet again.

The evil paedophile has recently returned to Weatherfield after being released from prison, where he was serving a sentence for grooming and raping Bethany in 2017.

Nathan interviewed by Swain as Joel watches on in Coronation Street

Sarah has already tried to pay Nathan to leave Weatherfield, but when he makes it clear that he’s not going anywhere she decides to plant some evidence to link him to the murder of Lauren Bolton.

She has one of Lauren’s hair bobbles that was left at the Platts and she takes it to the building site where Nathan works, intending to put it in his van.

She’s caught in the act by police officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), and has to admit what she was planning. He advises her to let the police do their job.

However, it’s not long before news spreads around the street that Nathan has been arrested. His van is searched and the police find some USB sticks, in breach of his sexual harm prevention order.

When Sarah asks Kit what was found in the van he tells her that they also found one of Lauren’s hairs. He suggests it must have come from the hair bobble, but says he won’t mention Sarah’s involvement.

Kit and DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) begin interviewing Nathan about Lauren’s disappearance, in the presence of his solicitor, Joel Deering (Calum Lill).

As DS Swain asks Nathan about his predilection for young girls and suggests he murdered Lauren, Nathan answers with ‘No comment,’ but he’s visibly rattled when she tells him that the girl who gave him an alibi for the night of Lauren’s disappearance has changed her mind.

It’s not looking good for Nathan – but when he tells Joel that he suspects Sarah planted Lauren’s hair in his van, could he escape justice after all?

New pictures have shown Joel actor Calum Lill filming on location near an abandoned building. Also on the scene were fellow stars Channique Sterling-Brown, who plays solicitor Dee-Dee Bailey, and Lucy Fallon.

Could both Joel and Dee-Dee be racing to dig out some potential evidence related to Lauren’s case, and with Bethany present, could it have something to do with Nathan?
