Coronation Street spoilers: Fiz left upset as she returns to upsetting setback
Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine) is to be dealt a devastating blow upon her return in Coronation Street next week.
The character has been absent for the last year, working as a supervisor for Underworld in Norwich – the storyline was devised to facilitate Jennie McAlpine’s maternity leave.
Whilst she’s been away, husband Tyrone (Alan Halsall) has become acquainted with his estranged mum Cassie (Claire Sweeney) who he previously believed to be dead.
Cassie’s drug addiction has relapsed, she’s assaulted a puppy farmer, stole money and landed herself in bother with boss Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) when she damaged an expensive car that was being serviced in the garage.
Upon Fiz’s return next week, Cassie and her mum Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) are desperate to make a good impression and have cleaned No. 9 from top to bottom.
Impressed with their efforts, the two women then realise that the house is going to become too overcrowded and a row breaks out over who should stay, and who should go.
With Fiz agreeing, she gives Tyrone the ultimatum of choosing between his mum and his nan.
When the pair decide to compete against each other in impressing Fiz and Tyrone with their culinary skills, he can’t decide and asks them both to stay.
However, Fiz has bigger fish to fry at the factory, when she fails in trying to impress boss Carla Connor (Alison King) with some ideas she’s picked up whilst working in Norfolk.
Feeling sidelined at work, and at home where her daughters seem to prefer the company of their grandmothers, Fiz worries that she doesn’t have a place in her home anymore.
Luckily, Evelyn has a plan up her sleeve and encourages Ruby to read out a heartwarming monologue about her role model.
Will Fiz find her place in Weatherfield life again, and how long can they go on squeezing six people into their terraced house?
