Coronation Street spoilers: Heartbreak confirmed for poor Dee-Dee as new boyfriend Joel hides another woman

Dee-Dee and Joel sat at a table in the Bistro in Corrie

It’s rare that a relationship on Coronation Street goes smoothly, as Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) is set to learn first hand next week when an old face arrives in boyfriend Joel Deering’s (Callum Lill) life.

Lovestruck Dee-Dee first met duty solicitor Joel at the police station in September, when he helped Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) get off with a caution for smashing up Audrey’s salon. Sparks immediately flew between the pair with Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) setting them up on a date, and a few months later with the relationship seemingly going well, Joel spent Christmas Day at the Bailey household.

Joel has been a huge support for Dee-Dee during the difficulties her family have faced over the last few months – first there was her brother’s Michael’s (Ryan Russell) unwilling involvement in the crimes of Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce), then the financial difficulties faced by her dad Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) in the wake of his gambling addiction relapse.

Viewers have long suspected that Joel is hiding a secret with this about to be confirmed when Joel is spotted in a heated confrontation with another woman.

With Dee-Dee caught between a rock and a hard place dealing with the dodgy insurance claim that twisted Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) wants Ed to submit on the burnt out builder’s yard and a tonne of work from the solicitors, Joel offers to meet up with a new client and pass on the notes to help her out.

During the meeting, Joel and the client are interrupted by a furious woman, Emily, who he quickly ushers out of the bistro in a panic. But his distress doesn’t go unnoticed as an intrigued Toyah Habeeb (Georgia Taylor) watches on.

Undoubtedly Emily will find herself back on the cobbles soon – but what is her relation to Joel, and how will this impact his life with Dee-Dee? Will he be able to keep her a secret for much longer?
