The Connor family breathed a sigh of relief in Monday’s (March 11) episode of Coronation Street as they discovered some news about Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan).

School bully Mason had made Liam’s (Charlie Wrenshall) life a living hell over the past few months.

Things got so bad for poor Liam that he started to lose hope. Unable to see a way out of his pain, Liam began googling ways to end his life, but fortunately Maria (Samia Longchambon) and Gary (Mikey North) discovered his fragile state of mind before he could do anything.

In the aftermath of this, while Liam has been seeking help, he has also slowly revealed more about the bullying he suffered at the hands of Mason, Dylan (Liam McCheyne) and their ‘gang’.

Recently, after speaking to Liam, Gary’s son Jake confirmed the ordeal that saw Mason threaten him with a knife.

After reporting this to the police, the Connor family learnt tonight that Mason has been charged with the offence of threatening with a bladed article in a public space, and it’s very likely he will receive a custodial sentence.

While Maria, Gary and Liam were relieved, the stress hadn’t stopped for Sean (Antony Cotton) and Dylan.

After learning the information about Mason, Sean chatted to Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown).

Sean initially thought the matter would be over with, but Dee-Dee reminded him they still needed to prove Dylan was coerced into carrying the knife.

Back at home, after Dylan discovered the update, he revealed to his dad and Eileen (Sue Cleaver) that he intends to plead guilty. He said he feels awful about his involvement in the bullying and Liam’s ordeal, and believes saying he’s guilty is the right thing to do.

But where will that leave the teenager?

Could Mason attempt to trick the court into thinking Dylan was the ringleader in this?

‘I did feel a pressure to do it justice and I think at the start I did feel that pressure quite a lot,’ Luca Toolan observed.

‘At the start it felt like a big weight on my shoulders because I felt I had to do it justice. I could see how relevant and hitting the story could be for so many people and I think I’ve learned to cope with that pressure better as time has gone on, and hopefully that’s reflected in the performances.

‘It was a big task but it’s motivated me to work hard and do my research and my due diligence and rehearse with the lads. I think it’s at a point now where I’m seeing the feedback and how many people are getting into the story and the noise it’s creating and I’m feeling happy that there was that pressure to motivate me to work as hard as I have.’
