Coronation Street spoilers: Paedophile Nathan’s fate revealed as several characters seal his comeuppance

The return of Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) shocked Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) to her core in Coronation Street.

The evil man – who abused Bethany when she was younger – returned to Weatherfield in the middle of the investigation into Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) apparent murder.

When Bethany spotted Nathan at the reconstruction of Lauren’s last known movements, she confronted him and wasted no time in accusing Nathan of killing Lauren.

In a recent episode, Nathan was arrested after Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) found an envelope containing some USB drives in the glove compartment of his van, which meant he breached his sexual harm prevention order.

While Nathan spends time being questioned by Kit and DS Swain (Vicky Myers), Bethany gets in contact with a young woman called Ellie.

When they meet up, Ellie tells Bethany that she previously had a client who showered her with gifts and became more of a boyfriend, but suddenly turned nasty and threatened to kill her.

As a new week begins, Joel Deering (Calum Lill) heads off to visit Nathan to discuss his plea. And what we know is that Joel is the one who truly killed Lauren.

Speaking of his character’s thrill at having Nathan as a client he can now frame, actor Calum Lill told us: ‘It was a huge stroke of luck. He was the duty solicitor on the day that Nathan’s questioned.

‘He just happens to be in the right place at the right time, and he is sitting there representing a man who is being wrongly accused of the thing that he did. He is as shocked as Nathan when the hair in Nathan’s car is proved to be Lauren’s. He doesn’t care about Nathan.

‘I think he can justify everything he’s ever done in his own head. He’s never done anything wrong in his mind. He can justify all of it. Nathan’s a groomer and a rapist and he’s the scum of the earth.

Joel leans against a wall in Coronation Street

‘But as far as Joel is concerned, he sees himself as someone who helped a girl and then had a sexual relationship and then she pushed his buttons and she got what she had coming in.

‘And his moral compass is absolutely off, he can compartmentalise anything, because Nathan’s done loads wrong it is fine for him to take the rap for this.’

Meanwhile, Bethany tells Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) about Ellie, how Nathan abused her too and she can provide him with Ellie’s address.

However, when Craig calls at Ellie’s lodgings, she finds her flatmate who reveals Ellie moved out after appearing frightened about something.

If Craig can find Ellie, will she provide enough evidence that can keep Nathan back behind bars for good?
