Coronation Street legend Roy Cropper (David Neilson) is at risk of spending the rest of his life behind bars after being arrested for the murder of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).

Lauren went missing a number of days ago, and after finding traces of blood and human tissue in her flat, police came to the conclusion that she had been murdered.

With Roy having deep cleaned the flat in a bid to save Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) from facing a huge cleaning bill, he was the number one suspect, and there was outrage from his nearest and dearest as DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) arrested him.

Roy has always been open and honest, so he didn’t hold anything back in his police interview, though some of the details he gave didn’t exactly work in his favour.

When DS Swain asked about Lauren’s history of sex work, Roy admitted that, though he didn’t know about it, it didn’t surprise him, as she had previously offered to have sex with him.

This gave Swain even more ammunition in her case, but Roy had seemingly innocent explanations for everything she threw at him.

However, this wasn’t enough to convince her that he was innocent, though solicitor Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) demanded to know how she had linked Roy to a murder when they didn’t even have a body.

Unfortunately, the circumstantial evidence was enough to go on for now, and DS Swain had soon released Roy on bail, with a strict curfew instructions to report to the police station weekly.

Back in his beloved café, there was more bad news for Roy, as Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) showed him the video of his arrest that was circulating online.

Poor Roy was absolutely gutted, but tried his best to remain positive, pointing out that the online trolls would move on once he was proven to be innocent.

However, Carla Connor (Alison King) wasn’t convinced that things would work out that well, and quietly asked Dee-Dee if Roy was kidding himself.

Though Dee-Dee initially pointed out that there was no harm in staying positive, when Carla doubled down she admitted that she had seen people go down for less.

With things not looking good for Roy, is he set to go down for murder?
