Coronation Street spoilers: Rob Donovan return, devastating stabbing and scary health news
Coronation Street spoilers for early January have teased devastating scenes, with huge twists airing on the ITV soap including a killer's return and a horror stabbing
There’s really big scenes on the way on Coronation Street, including a devastating attack, a health scare and a major return.
After the events of Christmas and New Year, it’s a sad start to 2025 for some as a horror stabbing takes centre stage in looming weeks. The attack sees a number of residents caught up in the drama, with one youngster fighting or their life.
Elsewhere, one teen is forced to admit something devastating while there’s also a hospital update for one Weatherfield favourite. This leads to the return of a major character who hasn’t been on the show since 2017.
Seven years since a super dramatic exit, killer Rob Donovan makes his comeback as part of his sister Carla Connor’s latest health blow. Also coming up there’s some what of an exit, and a proposal.
Let’s kick things off with Rob’s return as it’s such a huge twist. The character is surprised when he’s contacted in prison by his son Bobby, who is now living in Weatherfield with his aunt Carla.
Things take a turn for Carla after her looming hospital dash, weeks on from an attack. With Carla soon set to find out she may need to have another kidney transplant, there’s an update in January.
A shaken Carla is told by doctors that the damage to her kidney is severe and she’ll need a transplant. Bobby offers to help Carla, as does her other nephew Ryan Connor – but it’s not clear if either of them are a match.

Bobby soon makes a big decision to save his aunt, and he heads to the prison to speak with Rob. His criminal father, who was imprisoned seven years ago for killing Tina McIntyre, is stunned to learn about his sister and that Bobby wants him to donate his kidney – but will he agree?
Meanwhile Carla’s new love Lisa Swain is left annoyed to find out Carla covered for her daughter Betsy Swain recently, by not telling her about the factory break-in. Carla was attacked during the robbery, and Betsy had given the Radcliffe brothers the idea to rob the place after a clash.
Betsy confessed to Carla but she stayed quiet, so when Lisa finds out about their little secret she’s not happy. Carla soon wins her over though, insisting she was only trying to protect the teenager.
There’s horrifying scenes next month too when Mason’s plan to escape his brothers is thwarted, as Logan and Matty catch up with him and Dylan Wilson. After his call to the police against his siblings, they want revenge and soon chase the teens.
Things take a devastating turn when they begin attacking Mason viciously, and they stab him. Abi Franklin finds him bleeding and battles to save him, and the emergency services are called.

Betsy holds Mason’s hand as she and Abi do their best to reassure him that he’s going to be okay, but will he survive? Later in the week the stabbing is the talk of the street as residents struggle, with Abi traumatised over what she’s witnessed, years on from her son Seb’s tragic killing.
Meanwhile, David Platt could find himself in big trouble as he seeks out Kit after his fling with his wife Shona Platt. When he learns of a phone call between the pair he gets the wrong idea and sets chase, but will he face trouble?
The call is actually alerting Kit to the fact Mason’s brothers are in Frescho carpark – will he catch them in time? There’s also the discovery that the ambulance sent to help Mason was delayed due to a hoax, with Joseph Brown soon confessing to the police.
Amid his punishment being revealed the family are rocked by his actions. But when he reveals it was his cousin Hope Stape’s idea, how will they react?
Finally next week there is an exit teased, as Evelyn Plummer pushes on with her university plans. She packs up ready to move into halls, saying her goodbyes to her pals and loved ones. There’s also a proposal by Dev Alahan to Bernie Winter, but will she accept?
