Coronation Street spoilers: Simon Barlow faces his fate in dramatic exit storyline

It’s a big day for Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) in upcoming Coronation Street episodes as he heads to court after driving a car while under the influence.

A few weeks ago, troubled Simon agreed to take Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) to his chess tournament, but failed to tell anyone he had spent the evening drinking with Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll), and even had a swig of alcohol that morning.

Unsurprisingly, it wasn’t long until disaster struck. A distracted Simon crashed the car into a road sign and then chose to return home without telling anyone the truth.

Once Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) learnt Simon’s secret, she attempted to cover for him, but she had no choice but to reveal the mistake to Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) when Sam’s injuries put him in hospital.

Next week, Simon tells Nick and Leanne that he’s prepared for whatever punishment the magistrate throws at him tomorrow, adamant he deserves it.

While Simon comes to terms with the fact he may spend time behind bars, kind-hearted Sam agrees to write a character reference for him.

In the week, as Leanne and Simon get ready to leave for court, Nick makes out that he’s far too busy to go with him.

Despite the difficult relationship, Simon is left disappointed by the development, while Leanne shoots her partner a filthy look.

But will Nick turn up?
