Coronation Street spoilers: Who is Christopher Green as ‘terrible mother’ Bernie exposes secret?

Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) was feeling incredibly guilty in Friday’s (May 10) episode of Coronation Street, but she was reluctant to tell anyone why.

The sudden change in her behaviour started after Denny – her ex – arrived in Weatherfield. Denny reminded Bernie that he knows a secret about her, one she doesn’t want Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) to know.

Bernie then had an emotional conversation with Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) and asked him how he feels over not seeing all of his children.

Dev poured his heart out to Bernie, but remained unaware the chat had given her food for thought.

In tonight’s episode of the ITV soap, Bernie spent most of the day with Gemma. She was behaving strangely and when Bernie got the iron out, Gemma knew something was up.

Bernie continuously alluded to the fact something was wrong and even called herself a terrible mother. It was clear as day to Gemma that her mum was hiding something, but of course she wasn’t going to reveal what was going on.

That evening, Bernie was seen googling the name Christopher Green – who is her other son.

Next week, Bernie will admit to Dev that her boy Zodiac – or Zac for short – was taken into care when he was a young child.

He was later adopted and changed his name to Christopher Green.

Because Paul is nearing the end of his life it’s made Bernie think that she should make every effort to find Christopher and try to make amends with him. So she sets out to track down her long-lost son.

Finding him, however, proves to be a challenge.

When one of the Christopher Greens on her list turns out to have died of cancer, Bernie feels deflated, fearing that she’s missed the chance to be reunited with her son.

She hits the booze trying to drown her sorrows.

Is all hope lost?
