Now Helen’s on-screen grandson Paddy has opened up about Sean’s comeback as Martin.

“Absolutely yeah,” Paddy said having been asked if he was looking forward to working with Sean.

“I’ve not met him yet but I’ve heard lots of lovely things.”

Speaking of Helen’s exit, he said to The Sun at the Radio Times Soap Awards: “In terms of Helen’s exit, I can’t share too much but what I can say is that we know it’s a happy ending.

“And I know that Helen’s pleased and as long as Helen’s pleased then everyone else should be pleased.”

And there’s no danger of the icon being removed from the Platt family’s infamous WhatsApp group Platt Chat.

“Never,” Paddy said. “She will never leave Platt Chat.

“Platt Chat is something that you enter for life, it’s not something to be undertaken lightly.”It comes after Corrie boss Iain Macleod promised that Gail will not be killed off.

“Gail won’t die. It didn’t feel like killing her off would be right. Gail’s exit is a brilliant story. I thought, ‘What do the viewers want to see? ‘” he told the Star.

“Gail has had a hard life. She had a difficult childhood and she disastrous marriages. So, we though what viewers really want is a happy ending for her, so that what we’re doing.”

He added: ”Helen loves the storyline. She recently described it as, ‘It’s the perfect ending for Gail’, which means I can sleep soundly at night.

“You don’t want to give someone an ending they’re not pleased with after such a long stint.”

“Gail’s happy ending will be part of loads of other drama for the rest of the Platt family,” he added.

“It will be a catalyst for some explosive drama with betrayals and twists.

“Her departure will leave something in its wake.”
