Coronation Street star Katherine Kelly’s life since Becky McDonald soap exit
Coronation Street viewers were over the moon as icon Becky McDonald got a mention on Wednesday’s episode, sending soap fans into a frenzy.
The drama unfolded earlier in the week when it was disclosed that Max Turner was responsible for the catastrophic blaze at the Platt household, putting numerous characters, including himself, at risk.
Following the emergence of CCTV footage showing the arsonist sporting a distinctive hoodie, Shona Platt sussed out that it was the top she’d bought Max for Christmas.
Come Wednesday, the police had their forensic gloves on the hoodie found in the trash and swooped in to nick Max, but the lad bolted before they could arrest him.
Twists kept coming when it turned out Shona and David Platt plotted to sneak Max out to dodge a potential prison sentence, reports Lancs Live.
David turned to Max’s aunty Becky McDonald for help. To ease Shona’s nerves he said: “Becky said she’ll have Max. Apparently she’s still shacked up with that Ian bloke, who runs the hotel in Belize. He’s never been one for staying on the right side of the law. Max can go and work for him, cash in hand.”
Back in 2005, Becky rocked up on the street, where Roy Cropper with his beloved late wife Hayley welcomed the troubled character.
Becky’s wild ride on the street included a stormy marriage to Steve McDonald, but she bid adieu to Weatherfield in 2012, flying out to Barbados after settling scores with rival Tracy Barlow and her ex Steve.
Becky is Max’s aunt, as her sister Kylie Platt, who was Max’s mother, tragically passed away in 2016. This left Max and Lily Platt under the care of David.
Since departing from the cobbles in 2012, Becky actress Katherine Kelly has enjoyed a successful career, landing leading roles in numerous popular BBC and ITV dramas.
The 45 year old actress went on to star as Lady Mae Loxley in Mr Selfridge, DI Jodie Shackleton in Happy Valley, and The Permanent Secretary in The Night Manager. She also played Leah Dale in Cheat, Elizabeth Sutherland in Gentleman Jack, and DI Karen Renton in Liar.
More recently, Katherine has taken on roles such as Vicki in Ruby Speaking, Angela van Den Bogerd in Mr Bates vs The Post Office, Lynne in Inside No. 9, DCI Hannah Wheatley in Protection, and Sophia Craven in The Crow Girl.
