Coronation Street star says fans ‘warned him’ over bombshell storyline three years ago
Just when Tyrone (Alan Halsall) and Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine) thought they could finally enjoy their happily ever after on the cobbles, following a rollercoaster romance, their world could be rocked by a bombshell that may be their biggest challenge yet.
Coronation Street enthusiasts were whipped into a frenzy with the unexpected comeback of Alina Pop, with a baby on her screensaver who could be Tyrone’s child. However, Alina claimed it was her nephew. When Alina bid farewell to the street in 2021, fans had a hunch she was still expecting, especially after she tenderly touched her belly and turned down a glass of wine at the airport lounge before jetting off to Romania, despite assuring Tyrone it was a false alarm.
Alan Halsall has dished the dirt on the jaw-dropping twist, confessing he had a heads-up from eagle-eyed viewers about the plotline back when Alina made her dramatic departure.

“Well I definitely know Coronation Street so I knew that this was definitely going to happen,” Alan quipped during a chat with press about the return of Alina and her unexpected two year old ‘nephew’. “And also, all the fans knew as well. I think everyone’s known apart from Tyrone god bless him,” he joked.
“He’s the last person to know anything about his own life anyway so it worked out quite well,” he added, reflecting on Alina’s ‘clever’ exit nearly three years prior.
Alan recounted how fans quickly speculated that Alina would return with child soon after her exit in 2021. “People did cotton on to it very fast,” he explained of the ‘cliff hanger tease’ fans have been waiting three years to find out the answer to.
The bombshell revelation is bound to cause a stir in Fiz and Tyrone’s marriage
Tyrone, known for his people-pleasing nature, often ends up entangled in mayhem despite his good intentions, as he teases what could be next. “If he is the dad, he doesn’t want him to have the same upbringing that Tyrone had,” Alan states. But also, he’s very aware that Fiz and the girls will have feelings. Generally, we see Tyrone trying to make people happy and he’s not very good at that.”
Fans will be eager to see how the upcoming storyline and the arrival of Alina and the baby shake up the seemingly stable world of Tyrone and Fiz.
