Coronation Street star’s response to soap ‘snub’ after ‘missing’ role in Gail Platt exit
Coronation Street legend Sean Wilson has opened up about his departure from the soap and his planned return, before he was dropped by the network after his arrest
Sean Wilson, who famously played Martin Platt on Coronation Street, has revealed his feelings about the ITV soap following a harsh exit and a subsequent snub.
The 59-yea- old actor was slated for a grand return during Gail Platt’s departure story arc but saw his opportunity go up in smoke when he became embroiled in a severe sex allegation that was eventually dismissed. Police later stated no further action would be taken.
Despite being exonerated and having already filmed some scenes with Helen Worth, who played Gail, his footage didn’t make it to the screen, denying him the comeback he’d anticipated.
While discussing his newest television venture on BBC Breakfast, Sean reflected on his Corrie tenure and legacy, stating: “I’d like to think it misses me more than I miss it.”
A palpable awkwardness ensued, prompting co-star Rosemary Shrager to interject with praise for his performance: “He was so good on Corrie,” trying to steer the conversation forward.
On a different note, Sean has since forsaken acting, adopting a shockingly different career path that is bound to surprise his followers.
The beloved TV star, having turned his talents to cooking and cheesemaking, is now taking his culinary skills to the small screen. With an already impressive career in television, Sean is set to feature with Rosemary, a fellow British chef and TV personality, in hopes of creating a unique cooking show, reports Lancs Live.

The dynamic duo’s kitchen antics have already teased a hint of mayhem on BBC Breakfast. “You and I do things so differently,” Rosemary exclaimed in frustration during their demo, protesting “No, no! ” Despite her protests, Sean ploughed ahead with his methods, agreeing “We do, do things differently.”
Talking about the programme, Sean expressed his desire to enlighten viewers on home-cooking, saying: “I’d like them to look back on the show and go ‘oh my god that was a great show, a bit bonkers but OMG I learnt so much while I was there too’.”
