Coronation Street to bring in ‘feisty’ daughter of major character
Coronation Street is set to bring in DS Lisa Swain’s ‘feisty’ teenage daughter, actress Vicky Myers has confirmed.
DS Swain recently returned to our screens as a regular character, tasked with solving the mystery surrounding Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) disappearance.
After finding traces of blood and human tissue in Lauren’s flat, DS Swain arrested Roy Cropper (David Neilson) for her murder.
Outside of her work as the local detective, DS Swain is the mother of a teenage daughter, who viewers may soon be set to meet.
Speaking to TV Times, Vicky explained that the show is set to introduce the new character.
‘We’re in the process of casting her 16-year-old daughter, and I think it’s fair to say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree – she’s feisty, opinionated and educated,’ Vicky teased.
‘It’s going to be interesting watching Swain juggling her professional and personal lives. Also, we know she’s gay, so is there another mother and, if so, is she involved?’
Vicky previously revealed that DS Swain may have her eye on someone on the cobbles, though her attention is mainly focused on solving Lauren’s case.
‘I think she perhaps has seen somebody that’s caught her eye but at the moment she’s far too busy with focusing on this investigation and her career and being a single mum and juggling her home life as well with her teenage daughter.
‘If anybody out there has got teenage daughters they can quite well understand what I’m saying with that. Obviously to portray that with authenticity, to be creatively challenged by that, is brilliant and I’m very thankful to be given this opportunity.’
