Coronation Street to revisit Dee-Dee and Joel’s romance storyline

Could they reunite?

Coronation Street to revisit Dee-Dee and Joel's romance story

Coronation Street revisits the romantic connection between Dee-Dee Bailey and Joel Deering next week.

Dee-Dee confides in her brother Michael about her lingering feelings for her ex-boyfriend.

The story initially reappears on screen when Dee-Dee and Joel catch up at the Rovers Return.

Joel reveals that his estranged wife Emily has been in touch and relations between them are continuing to improve. Emily has even asked Joel to meet his daughter Maeve.

Later in the week, Dee-Dee opens up to Michael about how much she still enjoys Joel’s company.

Michael is apprehensive over this, reminding Dee-Dee that Joel lied to her and still may not be trustworthy.

Despite this, Dee-Dee leans on Joel for support with preparing Roy Cropper’s bail application following the café owner being charged with Lauren Bolton’s presumed murder.

This is partly because the solicitor’s firm is understaffed after losing Alya Nazir to a rival firm.

Dee-Dee ended things with Joel in February after learning that he’d lied to her about his past.

Joel had concealed the fact that he has a wife and daughter. In backstory, Joel cheated on Emily when she was pregnant and she kicked him out.

Despite this, Emily later arrived on the Street to defend Joel to Dee-Dee, assuring her that Joel is a good man at heart.

Calum Lill, who plays Joel, recently told Digital Spy: “The thing I like about this, he’s done a wrong thing but I think he’s not meant to harm [Dee-Dee]. He’s just meant to have a good relationship with her.

“He’s going to have to grovel and explain himself but what I like about it is it’s not black and white, it’s kind of grey and in the middle, and I hope what the audience enjoys is watching two young people trying to navigate quite a realistic relationship.

“It’s not Prince Charming and they’re going to sail off into the sunset. He’s got baggage and he’s made mistakes and he’s human. He’s not perfect.”
