Kate Ford has returned to filming on Coronation Street after taking an extended break.
It has been reported that Kate – who plays Corrie legend Tracy Barlow – will be making a return to the ITV soap soon as she is back filming. Tracy ran away with her new partner Tommy Orpington, following him to Spain for a new job.
Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) was devastated to lose his wife, and is still determined to get her back – but things take a turn next week when he gets revenge over her decision to leave with Tommy, will this end any chance for them for good?
Sources have claimed Tracy will be back on the Cobbles very soon, but in a twist it will only be for one week, before she returns again properly later in the year. Her storyline is being kept under wraps but she will no doubt have some Barlow family drama to deal with.
“Tracy’s a Corrie institution all on her own – she will never be far from the cobbles even when she lives halfway across the world. She makes a brief trip back for a week later this summer to visit her family and deal with some Barlow family drama,” a source told The Sun.
Simon – who plays Steve – previously teased a potential new romance for Steve and someone else, with fans convinced he could end up with Cassie after viewers pointed out some hints of chemistry between them.
“I think it would be great if we see Steve having to go down the route of speed dating, online dating,” he said, before quipping: “Steve could have a full on mid life crisis, maybe we could see him losing weight, changing his appearance, going to the gym. It could be a lot of fun and also a great excuse for me to make some changes in real life!”
Simon isn’t worried whether Steve falls in love with someone on the Cobbles or a new character. He added: “I think anyone will do. At this point in Steve’s life he’d be lucky to have anybody! … He gets why Tracy is attracted to Tommy, but he’s just so upset that his idol has done this to him. I think there’s so much going on at once that he’s not properly put it together yet.”
