Coronation Street viewers claim character ‘doesn’t exist anymore’ as they point out he’s gone missing from soap
EAGLE-eyed Coronation Street viewers have pointed out how one character has ‘gone missing’ from the soap.
Fans of the long-running ITV show have noticed how one newbie appears to have completely vanished from screens.
Earlier this year viewers were introduced to Bobby Crawford, who arrived on the Weatherfield cobbles shortly after Peter Barlow’s departure.
Played by young comedian Jack Carroll, he’s the nephew of matriarch Carla Connor and the son of her brother Rob Donovan.
Bobby, who has cerebral palsy, had been involved in Coronation Street’s biggest storyline involving Lauren Bolten.
Bobby had been pursuing Lauren before her disappearance and then tried to frame Daniel Osbourne for her murder in a bid to free Roy Cropper.
He later came clean to the police and admitted he lied to them about seeing a man matching Daniel’s description leave Lauren’s flat.
As a result, he told Carla he had caused nothing but trouble since arriving on the cobbles and thought it was best if he moved out.
And now Coronation Street fans have pointed out his absence on an online forum.
One viewer said: “It’s like he doesn’t exist anymore now. Wonderful, isn’t it.”
A second wrote: “My theory is that since Corrie is filmed weeks, sometimes months in advance, around the time he made his debut and the negative reaction to it, would have been around the time they’re filming the episodes that were being shown around his disappearance.
“So they’ve basically dropped him due to the negative response of the character.”
A third penned: “This is one of the few instances of a character disappearing for months in the way they do in modern Corrie I’m willing to tolerate.”
While a fourth commented: “Didn’t he move out of Carla’s or am I imagining that?”
