Coronation Street viewers sink claws into ‘laughable’ Adam crash scene ‘slower than a bumper car’
Adam got on the wrong side of prisoner Harvey and faced the consequences.
CORONATION Street viewers have sunk their claws into a ‘laughable’ Adam Barlow crash scene which was ‘slower than a bumper car’.
Last night’s episode of the ITV soap saw Adam push estranged wife Sarah Barlow and her daughter Bethany Platt out of the way after spotting a car heading towards them.
Adam – played by Sam Robertson – took the hit as he rolled across the windscreen and roof of the car before landing on the floor face down.
The hit and run was carried out after Adam crossed villain Harvey Gaskell after he had agreed to help get him out of prison on appeal.
Adam dropped the case, leaving the prisoner furious and soon after, he sent one of his heavies to get revenge by targeting Sarah.
However, things didn’t go to plan and Adam was the one who ended up in hospital.
But some Coronation Street fans were underwhelmed by the stunt, with some comparing the speed of the car to that of a fairground ride.
Taking to a soap fan forum one wrote: “What with? Bl***y bumper car?
Another added: “Wow that was the slowest hit and run ever.”
A third wrote on X – formerly Twitter: “That scene was pretty pathetic tbh. The way they were describing how fast the car was going when in the clip it looked about 5mph.
Another fan joked: “Good news! The slow speed of the car caused Adam’s hair to barely move.”
Meanwhile a fellow viewer tweeted: “Adam Barlow, the only soap character in history to have very nearly been unalived by 15mph vehicular collision.”
Unsurprisingly to those viewers, Adam survived the hit and run and was seen propped up in the hospital bed with his arm in a cast and cuts on his face in a later scene.
Despite Sarah telling him she wanted them to give their marriage another go, Adam decided to come clean to her about his deal with Harvey.
Having realised Harvey sent the car to kill Sarah and Bethany to punish him, he told her that she wasn’t safe.
“You’ve got to leave,” he told her.
“You have to leave town, as soon as possible. You, Harry and Bethany, you’re not safe here. I know who did this. That car was meant for you.”
