Coronation Street villain left to die after attack from relative in early ITVX release
The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Coronation Street that hasn’t aired on ITV yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.
Carla Connor (Alison King) has pushed brother Rob Donovan (Marc Bayliss) down the stairs in Coronation Street, potentially killing him.
Beloved character Carla recently contracted sepsis, which led to a doctor confirming she needed a kidney transplant.
Said donation came from Rob. In tonight’s episode, after the operations for the siblings went ahead, Rob hoped the aftermath of his surgery would go the way he had hoped.
When he woke, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) confirmed she would not go ahead with their deal, which would’ve seen her try and get his conviction overturned.
A furious Rob realised Lisa had only agreed to the plot just to ensure Carla would get the donation and heal.
The desperate man then began another plan. It involved help from his partner Mandy, a prison officer who he’s also in a relationship with.
She snuck into Carla’s hospital room, put her in a wheelchair and said she’d use her gun if Carla didn’t comply.
Mandy put Carla in another room and said they’d wait for Rob. While this was going on, he was in Swain’s car after stealing another officer’s clothes and sneaking out of the hospital himself.
When Rob realised Swain was trying to make a phone call, he bought himself time by attacking Lisa, knocking her unconscious.
Rob eventually made it to the room where Mandy and Carla were waiting.
In the period of time they were without Rob, Carla had reminded Mandy about her brother’s murder of Tina McIntyre, which saw him beat the young woman with a pipe until she died.
Mandy also alluded to someone else being in her life other than Rob, allowing Carla to realise she is carrying her brother’s baby.
As Rob arrived, the discovery of Mandy’s pregnancy ultimately changed things for him. He reacted badly to the news, which left Mandy convinced she was just being used.
Well, yeah.
After Mandy left, Rob attempted to do the same, meaning he’d potentially succeed in going on the run.
However, just before he could escape, Carla found the energy to push her brother down the stairs. His poor health as a result of the operation meant a weakened Rob fell over the balcony.
As Carla attempted to process what she had done, Lisa arrived.
Has she killed her brother?
And if not, what does that mean for the trio?
