Coronation Street work out the truth about Lauren Bolton’s secret boyfriend – and it’s absolutely heartbreaking
Fans have 'rumbled' just exactly what is going on with Lauren
Over the past few months, ITV viewers have witnessed the troubled teen speaking about her mystery rich boyfriend.
Lauren, played by Cait Fitton, is yet to reveal any details to any of her pals, despite being repeatedly quizzed, apart from the fact she claims that he is loaded.
She has also shown off a series of gifts that the mystery man appears to have bought for her but is there more to her hidden romance than meets the eye?
During the latest visit to the cobbles, Lauren once again spoke to her friends about the mystery man.
As her former lover Max Turner arranged for a little friendly get-together at his home, his girlfriend Sabrina was left asking Lauren to invite her partner along so they could get to know each other.
Later on, as Sabrina turned up with her brother Gav to Max’s house, Lauren was already seated but with no plus one to be seen.
Sabrina went on to ask Lauren if he would be joining them later on but she told everyone that he was working late and couldn’t make it – an excuse that they wayward teenager has used before.
Pressing for more, Sabrina remarked: “Maybe another time then.”
Lauren appeared to pull an unsure face which sparked panic that not everything might be the way she is making it out to be.
As the evening got underway, the friends were seen chatting before Lauren appeared to react to a message on her phone.
Putting on an enthusiastic display, she leaped up and said that he had asked to meet and hang out now that he was finished with work.
But the rest of the group remained unconvinced as they speculated that something was amiss.
It seemed that many fans were feeling the same way to as they shared their heartbreaking theory that Lauren had actually made him up and that there was no boyfriend at all.
They took to X – formerly Twitter – to share their opinion that Lauren’s boyfriend could be imaginary.
One wrote: “I’m still not convinced this mystery boyfriend of Lauren’s is even real #Corrie.”
Another went on to write: “Lauren lying about her boyfriend again. #Corrie.”
Still unsure, one fellow fan asked: “We gonna finally find out who this fella is who Lauren’s talking to on the phone? #Corrie.”
Lauren has had a rough ride during her stint on Coronation Street and has encountered issue after issue during her rocky first year in Weatherfield.
From a failed romance with Max to attempting to sleep with Roy Cropper, it seems that life won’t be slowing down for Lauren any time soon.
